Best Hotels in Los Cabos: 3 Luxury Resorts I Compared Before Booking My Trip

Choosing a luxury resort in Los Cabos isn't as simple as sorting by price or scrolling through Instagram photos. There are plenty of beautiful properties, but not all of them deliver the experience you're actually paying for.

Before booking my trip, I narrowed my search down to three luxury resorts that consistently stood out: Nobu Los Cabos, Viceroy Los Cabos, and Garza Blanca Los Cabos. Each offers something different, and after comparing them across the categories that matter most to me, I found a clear favorite.

If you're trying to decide where to stay in Los Cabos, here's exactly how I compared them.

How I Chose the Best Hotel in Los Cabos

When I'm choosing a resort, I'm looking for a full-service luxury experience—not necessarily the most expensive or over-the-top property. I want manicured grounds, attentive service, and the kind of experience where I don't have to lift a finger once I arrive.

A beautiful resort is only part of the equation. There are several other factors that determine whether a hotel is actually worth the price.

What I Looked For in a Luxury Los Cabos Resort

Location

Safety is always my first priority when choosing where to stay, which is honestly one of the reasons I rarely book Airbnbs. There's something reassuring about staying at a luxury resort where security and service are built into the experience.

Beach Access & Swimmability

If you've been to Cabo before, you already know that swimmable beaches aren't very common. The ocean can be rough, and many resort beaches aren't safe for swimming.

Personally, I don't mind planning a beach day away from the resort. Lover's Beach is one of my favorite spots, and getting there is part of the adventure.

Design & Atmosphere

The design and atmosphere aren't everything—but let's be honest, they're easily more than half of the overall experience.

I gravitate toward sleek, modern, well-maintained properties. Whether it's a boutique hotel or a 400-room resort, that expectation doesn't change. The aesthetic sets the tone for the entire vacation.

Dining Options

Great restaurants on property are definitely a plus, but they aren't a dealbreaker for me.

This matters more when you're staying somewhere isolated. In Cabo, I actually enjoy leaving the resort to explore local restaurants. As beautiful as luxury resorts are, every destination has so much more to offer beyond the property itself. More often than not, the best meal you'll have comes from a local restaurant.

Service

Service can make or break a stay.

If I have to call the concierge multiple times for the same request, that's a problem. Daily housekeeping should be standard, and transportation around the property should be convenient and readily available. Luxury should feel effortless.

Overall Value

These expectations are my baseline.

What really separates one resort from another are the extras—spa credits, dining credits, complimentary experiences, cultural activities, fitness classes, or anything that adds value beyond the room itself.

First Impressions of Nobu Los Cabos

It's easy to admit I was completely blown away the first time I saw Nobu Los Cabos.

The property strikes a perfect balance between minimalist Japanese architecture and the natural beauty of Los Cabos. Every detail feels intentional, and from the moment you arrive, the resort has a calming atmosphere that's hard to describe until you experience it yourself.

What I Loved About Nobu Los Cabos

Aesthetic & Design

This is where I feel Nobu truly shines.

The minimalist Japanese design almost feels like you're experiencing two destinations at once. The blend of Japanese and Mexican influences creates an atmosphere that's sophisticated, peaceful, and incredibly photogenic without feeling overdone.

Restaurants

As a seafood lover, Nobu is naturally one of my favorites.

The food and service are consistently excellent, and the signature Nobu restaurant lives up to its reputation. My only criticism is that there aren't quite as many dining options as some competing resorts, especially when it comes to breakfast.

Pool Areas

Normally, the pool isn't the deciding factor for me, but when choosing a resort.

In Cabo, that's different.

Since most beaches aren't swimmable, the pool becomes a lot more important. Nobu offers multiple pool experiences, including must have adults-only spaces.

Things to Consider Before Booking Nobu Los Cabos

Beach Conditions

Like many resorts in Cabo, the beach isn't safe for swimming.

It's expected, but it's still a little disappointing if spending time in the ocean is high on your priority list.

Location

Nobu is fairly secluded compared to many other luxury resorts in Cabo.

Expect roughly a 30-minute drive to the marina and many of the area's restaurants and nightlife.

Who Should Stay at Nobu Los Cabos?

Nobu is perfect for couples, food lovers, and anyone who appreciates thoughtful design. If your ideal vacation revolves around incredible architecture, exceptional service, and peaceful surroundings, this is one of the strongest options in Los Cabos.
